September 8, 2023 – The following is a statement by Kimberly Hughes, of the Care4Mississippi Coalition Steering Committee. Care4Mississippi, a coalition of healthcare and advocacy organizations, is committed to working with communities and policymakers to create a Mississippi plan to expand Medicaid to low-income residents across the state.
“The members of Care4Mississippi were pleased and excited to hear recent comments from Rep. Jason White @JasonWhiteMS, the potential new leader of our Mississippi House of Representatives, that Medicaid expansion will be on the table in next year’s legislative session. It is time for Mississippi to have a thoughtful and productive conversation on this issue.
